red-masked parakeet...

we heard very lound screaching birds' calls when we drove by monrovia so we stopped. we found a large flock of parakeets with red face circling over a parking lot. then two more flocks came from different directions and they all gathered (a hundred or so)then flew to the tallest tree nearby so we followed. too bad i didn't have my camera with me so these poorly-visible pictures were taken with my cell phone.

they stopped in the tree for a while eating seeds, nuts, fruits or something. they were quiet while eating.

still gathering...some kind of meeting or the olympic games?

they got noisy again and left... this was just a part of them.

we found this project. it says the estimate for this species in san gabriel valley is 130-180. shinya and i believe all of them were gathering there :) we've reported sightings.

I don't know, your cel-phone shots have a nice glow-effect. How cool, Parrots flocking. Nice compositions there...I like.
